The playful indoor-outdoor space of The Bazaar by José Andrés, at SLS Hotel in South Beach, Miami becomes the setting for a soiree featuring contemporary art, fused with a special menu of both traditional and modern Puerto Rican dishes prepared by the team of Michelin-starredg Chef, José Andrés.

As part of Andrés’ and World Central Kitchen’s philanthropic efforts to aid the recovery of Puerto Rico after the devastation of Hurricane María, Ventus/Food Meets Art includes the live performance of Carlos Mercado and Omar Obdulio Peña-Forty. Accompanying the artists, a selection of their recent works will present the Puerto Rican heritage and its echoes in today’s cultural development in the art world.

Altogether, as a tribute to the international art fair Art Basel Miami, Ventus/Food Meets Art is much more than an art show or a dinner event – it’s an event to indulge and spoil every sense.

«When I research an image from the past in Puerto Rico’s archives, before

the intervention, I stand before it with new eyes and try to answer the questions that surface.

It is a job that challenges my creative tasks and surprises me.»

    –Carlos Mercado

«One day… there came to me like a ash the image of people looking, their eyes serene but at the same time piercing…

I also imagined objects like shadows holding, clutching imprecise images…
I decided to go out and look for those fragments of life and temporality that

my mind had seen.»

-Omar Obdulio Peña Forty
