Puerto Rican artist Carlos Mercado initiated the Art in Golf Triennial 2015 with the inauguration of his installation Alternative Nature on February 27, 2014. The objects produced in this installation are extracts from his previous installation, Nature Morte, which was inaugurated in La Campechada 2012 at Fuerte San Cristobal in Old San Juan. The artist’s inspiration was derived from Puerto Rican painter Francisco Oller’s “Bodegón”. This type of art is known as still life, were the elements of design, composition, and light are combined.
